Park Pride will lead a $9.4 million redesign of Peoplestown's Four Corners Park after the nonprofit was selected for a grant from the Bezos Earth Fund's "Greening America's Cities" initiative, an eight-city, $100 million program. The plan, shaped by years of work with Peoplestown residents, adds accessible play and recreation areas, flexible gathering space for community programming, expanded community gardens and composting, and better lighting and walking paths at a park neighbors describe as beloved but long under-resourced.
Mayor Andre Dickens' office is involved alongside Park Pride and neighborhood leaders including Columbus Ward. No construction timeline has been announced yet.
Why it matters
It's a concrete payoff for a neighborhood that has spent years fighting displacement pressure near the Beltline's southside, funded by outside philanthropy rather than city or county capital.
